Haley McGee is a Fringe First-winning, Olivier-nominated actor and writer, originally from Canada, now based in London. Her most recent solo show, Age is a Feeling (★★★★★ “astonishing” - The Guardian), played a sold-out run at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe, before transferring to the Soho Theatre, where it played to sold-out audiences for 7 weeks. The script, published by Nick Hern Books, has been translated into 4 languages and been produced in China, Chile, Malta and Brazil. Her solo show The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale (★★★★ “reshingly unshowy” - The Stage), for which she won a Dora Award (the Canadian version of an Oliver) has played sold-out runs on both sides of the Atlantic, been turned into a memoir published by Penguin Random House Canada and is now development with a US production company to become a film. Haley has taught her Solo Show Creation Lab and Crash Course in Self-Producing to hundreds of artists around the globe. So, you’re an actor who wants to bypass the gatekeepers, share your work with growing audiences, and earn money for your art. BUT you struggle with imposter syndrome, lack of confidence and overwhelm when it comes to pitching your shows to venues, networking, finding and hiring collaborators and/or applying for funding. Internationally acclaimed, award-winning writer-performer Haley McGee —an experienced self-producer—is here to give you the brass tacks on self-producing, artist to artist. In this actor-friendly workshop the world of self-producing (aka all the annoying but necessary admin to but on your show) will be demystified. Methodically, you’ll be introduced to the various facets of self-producing theatre. Breaking it down into digestible bites, you’ll be given exercises, checklists, templates and systems created and used by a fellow artist over the last decade. Expect straightforward, no nonsense, step-by-step systems that remove all the guesswork and angst from self-producing. A must if you want to grasp the business-side of putting on a show, so you can do-it-yourself and seize control of your career.
We are a small business so cancellations and no-shows are impactful and deprive others of the slot. For WORKSHOPS we accept cancellations up to a week before the session. Notice given after this period will be eligible for a 50% refund. Unfortunately we cannot issue refunds after 48hrs notice. We are of course understanding of particular circumstances and will always endeavour to re-schedule your appointment.
